The world of Dexter is back in the spotlight as the cast of Dexter: Resurrection gathers to celebrate the return of one of television’s most recognizable crime dramas. Michael C. Hall and Uma Thurman were among the leading stars at the Season 2 premiere celebrations, which also marked the 20th anniversary of the original Dexter series.
The event occurred at New York Comic Con on October 8 2026 where fans were given an early screening of the premiere episode for the second season. The gathering included cast members, producers, and creative team members, who discussed the ongoing development of the show and its upcoming direction.
Hall is back as Dexter Morgan, the forensic expert who is also a serial killer who targets other murderers who managed to outrun justice. This marks another installment in the popular series to feature the character, who has been the centerpiece of the franchise since its inception and whose continued appearance explores Dexters struggles with his dark urges.
Another familiar face is Charley, the mercenary and ex-sfs who worked for billionaire Leon Prater in the first season. Her choice to walk away from Prater after she uncovered his treasonous betrayal opens the door for her return. Her appearance will bring another familiar face to a cast that balances old characters with new villains.
The second season features several notable actors in key roles. Brian Cox appears as the New York Ripper, and Dan Stevens portrays the Five Borough Killer. Bokeem Woodbine and Nona Parker Johnson also become part of the main cast, broadening the show’s group of investigators, criminals, and individuals whose lives intersect with Dexter.
Original cast members Jack Alcott as Dexter’s son Harrison Morgan and James Remar, Desmond Harrington and others are also expected to return. The show will also see the return of Krysten Ritter as Mia LaPierre or Lady Vengeance and Gabriel Luna joining the cast as Ray Ballard, a man linked with the mysterious Sleepy-Eyed Stranger.
In this tale, Dexter will be caught in a tricky spot when he is faced with two seemingly opposites: one who has a history of killing, and another far more new and unpredictable killer in New York. Meanwhile, Dexter must also deal with a blossoming midlife crisis, while the ever-destructive Harrison is off following his own kind of vengeance.
Showrunner Clyde Phillips, who is back with Hall and other executive producers, is helming the new season. The creative team is refining the series’ hybrid of visceral thrill, crime solving and mordant comedy while exploring new strife for its lead characters.
The timing is mainly notable because the original Dexter debuted in 2006. Two decades later, the franchise continues to attract attention through new stories, returning performers and a changing cast of antagonists. The anniversary celebrations provide an opportunity to reflect on the show’s long history while building anticipation for its latest chapter.
