Happiness Beckons: ‘How I Met Your Mother’ Actor Josh Radnor Ready for Marriage

Josh Radnor is all set to tie the knot. The actor, 49, rose to fame with his role as Ted Mosby in the Emmy Award-winning sitcom? How I Met Your Mother?. Radnor had kept a low profile on his personal life until recently when he revealed that he plans to get married. Radnor announced after playing his song ‘Brooklyn Girl’ during his sold-out NYC tour stop on November 16. Radnor wrote the song after meeting his bride-to-be at his friend’s event. He added that the song helped him reflect upon and resolve his apprehensions about marriage.

The sitcom began in 2005 with Ted living in New York City as an architect and sharing a place with his two best friends, Marshall Eriksen (Jason Segel), a law student, and Lily Aldrin (Alyson Hannigan), a kindergarten teacher who aspires to be an artist. Marshall and Lily have been together for almost nine years, and Marshall finally proposes, causing Ted to start thinking about his future. Along the way, he meets aspiring on-air news reporter Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders), who was born in Canada and is fiercely independent. She dislikes being tied down and is against having children, but eventually falls for Ted.

After a series of reversals and heartache, including the passing of co-star Tracy McConnell in season 8 and the loss of Barney’s daughter, the show ended with Ted telling his kids how he met their Mother. However, the final episode showed that Ted and Robin never got their happily ever after. It took seasons worth of on-screen growth and development for both Ted and Robin, and their different outlooks on marriage ultimately tore them apart.

Although there were many love interests and plot twists throughout the series, one character stood out – the titular Mother, played by Cristin Milioti. Despite only appearing in 22 episodes, her character strongly impacted the narrative. Her and Ted’s relationship was a complex story, filled with moments of happiness, the sharing of exceptions to Ted’s ‘Nothing Good Ever Happens After 2 am’ rule, and a proposal near the end of the series.

It has been nearly a decade since How I Met Your Mother came to a close, but Radnor and the rest of the cast celebrated the milestone with a throwback cast photo on Instagram. Radnor has since continued to work on various acting and singing projects. In addition to starring on the hit TV show, Radnor has also released several albums. His latest offering is titled ‘Eulogy Vol. 1’ and was released on November 17. Click here to check it out.
