Why is it important to lead a life that is deeply rooted in religion, service, and a “willingness to travel to the farthest reaches of the earth?” At a young age, Chet Lowe’s vocation to ministry was encapsulated by those words. “Chet initiated his ministry at the age of seven by organizing and conducting a Vacation Bible School in the family garage.””Chet was raised in the Bahamas in a Christian environment, where he was encouraged to develop skills in practical piety, compassion, and service.”
During his teenage years, his perspective on service was expanded to incorporate the entire world. At the age of thirteen, he traveled to South Korea with a youth mission team to assist in the construction of a church. He traveled to Liberia this year to construct a school. His conviction that Christian service was not restricted to a familiar community was further solidified by these missions.
Nevertheless, Pastor Chet Lowe entered into one of his most significant life phases when he married Andrea in 1994. He and his wife relocated to Liberia during the 1995 civil conflict. His mission in that region encompassed the provision of humanitarian aid and the establishment of congregations.
They were instrumental in the establishment of seventeen congregations in Liberia and the establishment of Joseph’s Brethren, a ministry that provides assistance to children who have been affected by the conflict, including former child combatants. According to biographical data, approximately 1500 children were enlisted in foster care and rehabilitation programs after three years.
At present, Lowe’s ministry strategy is predicated on the principle of faith, which is demonstrated through service. Lowe has consistently emphasized the importance of relational service discipleship and the integration of one into the life of another in the face of life-altering calamity, rather than circumscribing any ministry to preaching and worship.
Pastor Chet Lowe was employed at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale upon his return to the United States. He was accountable for counseling ministries for single parents, couples, and individuals, as well as missions and foster care. Additionally, the preacher attained a Master of Christian Counseling degree.
Subsequently, in 2005, he implemented Patmos: Reality Discipleship, a discipleship program for young adults. It eventually reached Florida, California, the Bahamas, Brazil, and El Salvador, among other destinations.
In his book Living Parable, author Chet Lowe argues that ordinary circumstances can serve as a representation and embodiment of an individual’s faith. His comprehensive ministry is founded on a comparable principle: individuals can participate in spiritual discourse by capitalizing on their own proclivities, alliances, serenity, and support.
Chet has been a successful pastor, director of global missions, counselor, disciplinarian, and community builder for over 26 years. From his early ministry in the Bahamas to his current ministry in California, serving others has been the cornerstone of his life.
