Singer John Legend and model Chrissy Teigen have welcomed their fourth child, a son — Wren Alexander Stephens. The baby boy was born via surrogacy on June 19. “Our hearts, and our home, are officially full,” wrote Chrissy in an elaborate heartfelt post about the birth. She also shared pictures of the surrogate mother, Alexandra, who she called a unique and remarkable woman.
The Cravings cookbook author and her husband first contacted a surrogacy agency in 2021 after experiencing loss with their son Jack at 20 weeks in 2020. In the following months, the couple underwent several rounds of in vitro fertilization to get pregnant again but ultimately lost another pregnancy in January 2023. However, during the process, they met their current surrogate, who they named Alexandra.
According to the post, it was a “miracle” that Alexandra became pregnant with their baby. She then gave birth to a healthy girl in January, Esti Maxine. During the process, the two women developed an incredible friendship. In a photo posted Wednesday, Chrissy, 37, is seen kissing the bump of her surrogate while she and the newborn are shown together. “It’s a bittersweet moment for us, but we’re so happy to share this with you!” she writes in the caption. The Cravings author expresses her endless appreciation for the woman she calls an “amazing, loving, compassionate, and kind” surrogate. “She’s a true friend; I know she would do anything for anyone. We are so lucky that we found her and are so grateful for everything she’s done.”
Fans reacted quickly to the big news, praising Alexandra and the rest of the family. The 37-year-old model was also thanked by her former Even Stevens co-star, Christy Carlson Romano, who tweeted that she sent her love and congratulations. Others commented on the baby’s name, noting it has a very similar ring to the character Ren Stevens from the Disney Channel series from 2000 to 2003.
It’s been a long road to get to this point for the couple, but they finally have all four kids they always dreamed of. They’ve been very open about their fertility journey, and their transparency has helped countless people feel comfortable talking about this often taboo topic. Our thoughts are with the family, and we are happy to see their story continue to evolve.
