Joshua Jackson Was Not Ready For Marriage Before Meeting Jodie Turner-Smith

In his early twenties, Joshua Jackson was not yet ready for marriage. But after meeting Jodie Turner-Smith, he realized the relationship could lead to something special.

The Dawson’s Creek star was spotted walking hand in hand with Turner-Smith multiple times during a year-and-a-half romance that saw the couple trot the globe together, get engaged (she asked him), and eventually married in 2020. In a new interview with The Times, the Little Fires Everywhere actor opened up about his relationship with his wife and how meeting her changed his perspective regarding marriage.

When They First Met

The two first met when Usher held a 40th birthday party in Los Angeles. After that, they were spotted together and became more serious about each other.

When They Were Dating

While dating, they spent time in exotic locations, including Nicaragua. They also shared pictures from a trip to the Dominican Republic, where they were pictured lying out in luxury.

When they Were Engaged

While Jodie and Joshua were still dating, they had been planning a wedding for a while. Then, they were spotted at the premiere of Queen & Slim wearing rings on their hands. This was a big deal since it fueled the rumors that they were headed for a sexy future.

When They Were Married

In an interview with PEOPLE, Jodie said that her husband created a unique partnership where they could both be successful and stay close to their daughter. She also pointed out that he clearly wanted to be a father and be present for his daughter.

How They Came to Know Each Other

Joshua and Jodie were both born in Vancouver, Canada. They grew up there with their parents, John and Fiona.

Josh began his career in minor roles, but he soon got his big break after playing Pacey Witter on the teen drama series ‘Dawson’s Creek,’ which ran for six seasons and was one of the most popular shows at the time.

After starring in several television shows, Joshua starred in movies and won numerous awards. Some of his best-known films include ‘Crooked Hearts,’ ‘Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory’ and ‘The Mighty Ducks.’

‘Crooked Hearts’ is based on a novel by Robert Louis Stevenson, released in 1991. It stars Joshua and is a comedy about a man who tries to make sense of the world through his experiences.

He then starred in ‘Willie Wonka’ and ‘The Chocolate Factory’ as Charlie, a young boy who gets to visit the famous confectionary with his family. After this, he joined a talent agency called William Morris Agency and landed his first lead role in ‘Mighty Ducks’ as a talented hockey player who is very ambitious.

The film won him the Genie Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role, and he also won the Teen Choice Award as Choice TV Actor for ‘Dawson’s Creek’ in 2000.
